Sophie Rose is a Central Queensland artist with a contemporary style, Sophie has participated in numerous country music festivals throughout Queensland since the age of eleven (in 2008). Her love of performing live, is her driving force when participating at these festivals and other gigs.
Sophie performs locally at Rockhampton, Yeppoon, Emu Park, Byfield and surrounding areas. Sophie supported the Bostocks at the Gavial Creek Rodeo, in January 2011 which included her opening the rodeo singing the national anthem. She has recorded her second CD of her own compositions and released them on iTunes.
At the start of 2010, Sophie performed with the Craig Giles Rising Star Concert in Tamworth along with competing in walk ups and talent quests.
In September 2010, she performed at the Village Festival Yeppoon and was later invited to the after party to entertain the many volunteers, which had cemented her continued commitment to the festival and her ongoing participation as a performer.
2011 was a busy year for Sophie, continuing her country music festivals and involvement with many local events and markets, including ‘Discovered’ for the Rockhampton local show and a definite highlight in winning CQ’s Got Talent in August. The inclusion with Pine Fest and 2011 Village Festival were a favourite with Sophie. The opportunity to sing as a support act for Lee Kernaghan at his Emerald “Ride for Regional Kids” concert, was a thrilling experience. Sophie performed some of her own songs as well as singing with Lee and the other entertainers. A very busy year ends with Sophie recording a video for her song “Hey Boy” with a local film producer.
2012 Sophie performed at the Sunday Sessions for A-Venue, The Village Festival, Pine Fest, Festival of the Wind and as the support act for the Radio Nag Valentines Ball, whilst singing and busking at various markets. Sophie was awarded 1st place in a local competition at the Central Hotel in Rockhampton. A highlight of her year was being able to perform at the Waru Original Music Festival in Yeppoon. In 2013/2014 Sophie has performed at the Radio Nag Valentines Ball, The Village Festival for the fourth and fifth year, OMFest, The Multi-Cultural festival, Relay For Life, Muso’s blackboard at the Criterion, OctoberFest and the Black Dog Ball.
2015 and 2016 have been great for Sophie as she has recorded 4 music videos and embarks on her first full length independent album "Forget The Sunrise". Singing again at the Black Dog ball and the Women’s Health Fire and Ice Ball as well as being involved with Headspace, she is looking forward to doing some more fundraisers in the near future as well as recording more of her original songs. Sophie is working as a singing teacher at Bel Canto and is continuing her work through singing at Tanby Gardens Centre and various pubs.
